The Standard, the Hardware and How It Integrates

What the bus controls, how it talks to the systems already in your building, and the cabling standard every panel is built to.

What the Bus Actually Controls

Nine functional domains, one twisted pair, one documented project file. Any of these can be added later if the topology was designed for it at the start.

Integrate, do not rip out and replace

The Standard, and Why It Protects You

KNX is the worldwide open standard for home and building control, published as ISO/IEC 14543-3. The open part is what matters commercially: no single manufacturer owns your building, and any certified integrator can pick the system up from the documentation.

KNX Protocol Architecture

Devices share one bus and talk via group addresses - watch a telegram travel the line.

Sensors

Buttons, PIR, temp, lux, weather - send telegrams

KNX Bus (TP/RF/IP)

Shared twisted-pair / wireless / IP backbone

Logic & Couplers

Scenes, schedules, segmentation & filtering

Actuators

Switch, dim, drive blinds & valves on command

// decentralised - no central PC required; every device is intelligent

KNX Hardware Ecosystem

Switch and dim real-world loads on the bus.

Switch Actuators

2-24 channel, 16/20A - lighting & general loads

Dimming Actuators

Universal / DALI / 1-10V dimming, 0-100%

Shutter/Blind Actuators

Capacitive Glass Panel

Backlit glass in warm white or black, custom engraving, status indication and an integrated room temperature readout.

Brushed metal rocker, KNX wall control interface

Brushed Metal Rocker

The familiar rocker feel with KNX intelligence behind it. Nobody has to be taught how to use a light switch.

Colour touch display, KNX wall control interface

Colour Touch Display

Full room or whole-building visualisation on the wall, for spaces where one plate has to do a lot of work.

Flush sensor plate, KNX wall control interface

Flush Sensor Plate

Temperature, humidity and presence in a plate that matches the switch family, so the wall stays quiet.

Router unplugged. The night scene is still running.

Switches, sensors, schedules and logic all live on the local bus. Internet is only needed to reach the building from outside it.

Your plant keeps its own controls. KNX just gets to talk to it.

Certified gateways to BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP and RTU, DALI-2 and every major VRF manufacturer.

Most Faults We Are Called to Fix Were Created at Cabling Stage

Cabling is the one layer you cannot revisit cheaply once the walls close. Segmentation, power-supply placement, labelling and containment decide whether the building is serviceable for the next twenty years.

Structured KNX cabling topology for a multi-storey building: a backbone riser feeding a line coupler and dedicated bus power supply in each floor distribution board, with branch lines out to switches, sensors and actuators
Correctly built KNX panel with labelled devices and combed twisted-pair cabling

With Structured Cabling

  • Segmented lines & adequate power supplies
  • Neat, labelled DB panels
  • Easy fault isolation & expansion
  • Documented as-built & group addresses
  • Reliable for 20+ years
Poorly built control panel with tangled unlabelled cabling and a removed device

Without It

  • Overloaded lines & random dropouts
  • Messy, unlabelled panels
  • One fault takes down many devices
  • No documentation - a black box
  • Costly to repair or extend

The Layer You Only Get One Chance At

We design TP, KNX RF wireless and IP backbones correctly the first time - labelled, documented and handed over. Never a black box.

Quantified System Benefits

20-35%

Energy Savings

Lower TNB bills from smart HVAC, lighting and load management - measured and reported.

1-touch

Convenience

Scenes, schedules and one-touch control across the whole building.

24/7

Enhanced Security

Integrated alarms, presence simulation and instant alerts.

100%

Asset Value

Every system handed over with its ETS file and as-builts, so it adds to resale and tenant appeal instead of becoming a liability.

500+ manufacturers build to the KNX standard - we choose hardware on merit and price, never on lock-in.

Eight control modules from different manufacturers linked by a single continuous KNX bus cable

Eight manufacturers. One bus cable. That is the entire argument for an open standard.
